Diagnosis to discover the cause of crashes, lockups, unusual slowness or Internet problems. Includes virus and spyware removal.
Software Installation or Troubleshooting
Repair, troubleshoot, or install one software title (Word, Excel, Quicken, Photoshop, Outlook) over the phone or in person to properly configure or repair a software application already installed. Service excludes operating system installation. Software not included.
Computer Optimization (Tune-up)
Boost your computer's acceleration (boot time) and system performance by removing unwanted files and unnecessary background processes. Update your PC with the most recent updates to guard against security threats.
Network Troubleshooting
Having problems with your wireless internet connection or are you concerned about the security of your wireless network? Phone or in person service call to properly configure or repair your network connection.
ISP Troubleshooting
Are you having problems connecting with your current high-speed or dial-up service? Help you determine what is causing the issue and who to get you back on line. ISP not included.
MP3 Setup and Training
Set-up your new MP3 player to your PC. Instructions on how to use your MP3 player, burn your own CDs, rip (copy) your CDs onto the computer, transfer tracks to your MP3 player and discover different ways to organize your new music library. Working high speed internet connection required. Hardware not included.
Peripheral Setup (Printer, Digital Camera, etc.)
Get help connecting that new camera, printer or other device to your computer. Guidance through the steps over the phone or in person service call to properly configure your device settings. It's the quick and painless way to ensure your peripherals are correctly installed. Hardware not included.
One Time Data Backup / Transfer (CD/DVD, Ext device, direct HD, NAS)
Save secure copies of your computer's files in case of a severe crash. Backup is indicative of HD space provided by Client. Media and HD not included.
Automated Data Backup (Internal, External HDD, NAS)
Connect external hard drives to computer, install software & drivers, and verify drivers are functional. Hard drive not included. Set up operating system software for network system
access and configure computer to routinely back up. Show you how to store data for back up. Clean & Remove (Hard Drive Erasure) Resell or donate your computer with confidence after
removing all your confidential files and information from the hard drive. Don't give away your confidential information!
Computer Optimization
Your computer, just like your car, is a finely tuned machine that needs regular maintenance to keep it running and in good working order. This service includes system tweaks that will shorten your computer's boot time, deleting unwanted files and unnecessary background processes. Bring your system up to speed with the most recent updates to guard against security threats, and if needed, defrag your hard drive.
Single Title Software Install (AV, AS, OLB. Etc.)
From tax preparation to hobbies -install a utility or productivity software. Service excludes operating system installation. Software not included.
Software Suite Install (Suite, MSFT Office, DI Suites, Etc.)
Service includes the repair, troubleshoot, or install one software suite (ex. Office, Norton Internet Security, etc.) and the installation of all critical updates for the software suite.
Test the software suite for proper functionality. Software not included.
Hardware Install (upgrade/service)
Install any one PC compatible internal or external hardware device onto your desktop or laptop. Graphics/video card, memory, hard drives, and optical drives are examples of what this service includes. Hardware not included.
Operating System Install
Installation of the latest version of Microsoft® Windows that best suits you and your computer. Install all critical system updates. Software not included.
Consultation/Purchasing
Service will provide knowledgeable counsel on purchasing new PC's, peripherals, hardware, software, and multimedia devices. Any purchased hardware, software, or other utility for the explicit use of the client by BSC Repair is subject to a 10% overhead fee on the cost of the item(s).

Linksys WRT54GS not connecting via LAN to Internet

Ran across this issue at TechLab 2000 , a friends shop in Baltimore. After doing some exhaustive physical troubleshooting (checking the 16 port hub back end, looking for incorrectly wired cables, checking the Windows and McAfee firewall settings), I figured my best shot was to do more Internet research. This made absolutely no sense why the configuration would work for months, and then over the span of a week, peter out on him. Wireless connection worked to the Internet, and the LAN connected PCs could get to network shares, but not Internet. As a 'quick' fix for the day, I stuck Wireless G PCI card in the PC he used for processing online orders, and left a little frustrated after @ 4 hours of work. Later on that evening, I did some investigating and stumbled across this forum noting an almost identical problem. Linksys!

No posts lately, been busy traveling and working. Haven't had too much going on in the BSC world. I did end up replacing my home Linksys router/modem. It was constantly loosing connection to the cable input. This was dropping my Vonage router out of commission too, so my first thought was that the Vonage adapter had gone bad. I got a new Vonage adapter, and it soon started acting the same. I installed the Surfboard modem, thinking it might be the load from the cable connection coming in. Nope. I then installed a D-Link Draft N Wireless Gigabit Router along with the standard Motorola Surfboard. That seemed to do the trick. I had the surfboard sitting in a dustbin in my storage closet, and the D-Link router cost @ 80 dollars. I fought with this thing for 3-4 months and it was merely $80 dollars away (the answer).
